Ministries of the People and Housing Advance Collaboration with Walkthrough of Edinburgh 500 Towers

As a tangible follow-up to the inter-ministerial discussions held on July 17, 2025, the Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, yesterday Tuesday July 29, 2025, joined the Honourable David Lee, Minister of Housing, for a site walkthrough of the residential towers at Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas.

This critical visit signals continued action towards a collaborative initiative aimed at providing accessible housing for persons with disabilities and the elderly across Trinidad and Tobago.

Accompanied by executive and technical officials from both Ministries, the Ministers assessed the facilities with a view to advancing plans to provide safe, accessible housing for persons with disabilities who are in urgent need of shelter. This forms part of a broader strategy to ensure that housing solutions meet the highest standards of inclusion, safety, and dignity.

Minister Mohit noted that the visit reflects the Government’s deep and ongoing commitment to protecting and empowering vulnerable citizens. “We are not just planning, we are acting.

The walkthrough represents the next step in delivering real, tangible outcomes for those who need it most,” she said.

Minister Lee also reaffirmed the Ministry of Housing’s readiness to work alongside its partners to provide accessible housing to persons with disabilities. This joint effort signals a renewed and purposeful thrust toward building a more inclusive society, in alignment with the national vision of putting people at the centre of development.
