Ministry of the People Distributes Over $69,000 in SEED Grants to San Fernando Entrepreneurs

The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services (MPSDFS) continued the distribution of its Sowing Empowerment through Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) Grants today, Wednesday September 3, 2025 at the Gulf View Community Centre, San Fernando.

The Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, led the distribution during which five (5) deserving clients received SEED Grants valued at sixty-nine thousand, six hundred and seventeen dollars ($69,617.00), to the benefit of a total of twenty-three (23) persons from the community.

Minister Mohit congratulated the recipients and shared her hope of seeing their businesses thrive by being able to walk into one of their businesses in the near future as a testament to their growth and success. She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to bringing services directly to the people, ensuring that citizens can access Government’s support in their own communities.

One of the recipients, Mr. Joel Osborne, expressed his appreciation for the timely support, stating that he was grateful for the quick response to his application. He added that the grant left him feeling encouraged and empowered by the opportunity to move forward in furthering his business.

The SEED Grant, valued at up to $15,000.00 per recipient, is administered through the National Social Development Programme (NSDP). It provides disadvantaged citizens with the resources to initiate or expand their micro-enterprises by supplying equipment, materials, or specialised training. The Ministry will continue its community-based SEED distributions across the country as part of its mission to empower citizens, reduce poverty, and strengthen families.
