The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services is actively responding to the urgent situation affecting a family in Claxton Bay, as highlighted in sections of the media.
Immediately upon learning of the matter, the Ministry reached out to the family and launched an assessment to determine their most pressing needs. In keeping with our mandate to empower vulnerable citizens, targeted interventions that are within the established policy framework are already underway.
The family is currently receiving support from the Ministry through the Senior Citizens’ Pension, and we have since initiated additional assistance through our internal programmes and key partner agencies in the social sector.
Assistance currently under consideration, include grants through the National Social Development Programme (NSDP) and caregiver services through the Geriatric and Adolescent Partnership Programme, under the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, which is designed to provide geriatric care and companionship services for the elderly.
The Ministry remains steadfast in our commitment to work alongside families during their most difficult times and will continue to monitor the case closely, ensuring timely access to services within the established policy framework. We remain committed to helping those most in need and continue to work with compassion, care and purpose to support citizens facing difficult circumstances.
