MPSDFS Celebrates the Completion of National Community-Based Parenting Workshops

The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services, through its National Family Services Division, hosted a Certificate Distribution Ceremony today at the Murchison Brown Auditorium, City Hall, Port of Spain, celebrating seventy-nine (79) parents and guardians who successfully completed its National Community- Based Parenting Workshops.

The event recognised participants from Aranguez/El Socorro, Carenage, Belmont, and Pleasantville who took part in workshops held during April and May, 2025. These sessions were designed to equip parents with practical tools and strategies to strengthen family life, including effective communication, positive discipline, emotional support, and healthy bonding practices.

Delivering the feature address, The Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, congratulated participants on their achievement and commended their commitment to personal growth and family development. She praised the dedication of the participants, stating, “Parenting is one of the most important responsibilities we will ever have. By choosing to strengthen your skills, you are also investing in your children, your families, and in the future of our nation.”

The National Community-Based Parenting Workshops form part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to support families and reduce social risks by equipping parents with the skills necessary to guide and nurture their children. The National Family Services Division continues to provide counselling, psychosocial support, mediation, and training opportunities aimed at strengthening the family unit and, by extension, society.

The day’s event concluded earlier than scheduled, as an emergency alarm was activated at City Hall. To ensure the safety of all in attendance, the auditorium was safely evacuated in keeping with standard procedure.
