MPSDFS Delivers More than Two Hundred Thousand dollars in Critical Support Through Home Repair and Disaster Assistance Grants

The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services, through the National Social Development Programme (NSDP), continued the delivery of Home Repair and Disaster General Assistance Grants, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, to benefit vulnerable households in the Princes Town region.

The distribution benefitted a total of thirteen (13) households, impacting forty beneficiaries (40), at a total of two hundred and twenty-four thousand, nine hundred and twenty-eight dollars ($224,928.00).

This initiative continues to enable families to repair and improve the safety and functionality of their homes. The Ministry distributed Home Repair Grants to eleven (11) households, directly benefiting thirty-one (31) individuals, at a value of two hundred and ten thousand, seven hundred and fifty-three dollars ($210,753.00). Additionally, Disaster General Assistance Grants were provided to two (2) households, supporting nine (9) beneficiaries, at a value of fourteen thousand, one hundred and seventy-five dollars ($14,175.00).

The Ministry remains committed to improving the quality of life for citizens recovering from disaster and those facing financial hardship. The Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, reasserted that the Ministry remains firmly committed to ensuring that no citizen is left behind, stating that the work continues daily to reach communities, identifying needs and responding with purpose, compassion, and urgency.

Minister Mohit further affirmed that the Ministry, through the NSDP and in the continued collaboration with stakeholders, continues to prioritise the support it gives to the most vulnerable citizens, “through ongoing reforms, expanded outreach and closer collaboration with local stakeholders, we are building a framework that is not only responsive in times of crisis, but also preventative in reducing long term vulnerability. This is about creating sustainable pathways for families, ensuring that support today leads to greater stability and independence tomorrow.” she stated.

The Ministry continues to be steadfast in prioritising responsive social protection programmes that ease immediate hardship while fostering long-term stability, resilience, and empowerment for all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
