As the Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services continues to take the distribution of its Sowing Empowerment through Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) Grants directly into communities, recipients have vowed to take full advantage of the grant, which has brought an end to a long period of waiting for some.
The Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, led Ministry officials at a SEED Grant presentation event today, Friday September 5, 2025 at the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation. Four (4) individuals received funding valued at fifty- nine thousand, four hundred and seventy dollars and forty-five cents ($59,470.45), which will benefit a total of seventeen (17) persons.
Minister Mohit lauded the enterprising young individuals, all of whom are under the age of forty, and urged them to accept the assistance, not as a grant but an incentive to grow and work towards self-sufficiency. She noted that the Ministry is prepared to provide continued guidance in business development with training initiatives that are available to recipients. When you face a challenge in the start or continuation of your business, you are encouraged to contact the Ministry, we are here to provide you with the training that you will need to improve your efforts, the Minister stated.
The SEED Grant, valued at up to $15,000.00, is administered through the National Social Development Programme (NSDP). It provides critical support to disadvantaged citizens, enabling them to start or expand their micro-enterprises by supplying equipment, materials, or specialized training.
