The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services (MPSDFS) continues to redefine social service delivery by bringing assistance directly to the people. In keeping with that commitment, on Saturday, 4th July, 2026, the Ministry distributed Disaster Relief General Assistance and Home Repair Grants to thirty (30) households across the Penal/Debe and Siparia regions, benefiting one hundred and one (101) citizens.
The assistance, valued at two hundred and sixty-five thousand, one hundred and eighty-eight dollars and eighty cents (TT$265,188.80), included:
- Twenty-six (26) Disaster Relief General Assistance Grants, benefiting eighty-nine (89) persons at a value of Two Hundred and Ten Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty-Seven Dollars and Eighty Cents (TT$210,437.80).
- Four (4) Home Repair Grants, supporting twelve (12) beneficiaries with assistance totalling fifty-four thousand, seven hundred and fifty-one dollars (TT$54,751.00).
She added that the Ministry's people-centred approach continues to bring social services closer to citizens through community outreach and home visits, ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most. "The true measure of public service is not how many reports we produce, but how many lives we help rebuild. We will continue travelling throughout Trinidad and Tobago, meeting people where they are and ensuring that no family is forgotten," the Minister affirmed.
Since assuming office, Minister Mohit has led the Ministry’s efforts in expanding its community outreach by delivering disaster relief and other social assistance directly to clients across Trinidad and Tobago. Through this approach, the Ministry continues to provide timely support that helps vulnerable households recover, rebuild and move forward with dignity.
