The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services marked its thirty-eighth (38th) Disaster Relief and Home Repair Grant Distribution since the Government assumed office, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, delivering Three Hundred and Thirty-Eight Thousand, Four Hundred and Seventy-One Dollars (TT$338,471.00) in Disaster General Assistance and Home Repair Grants to twenty-seven (27) households, representing one hundred and three (103) beneficiaries in the Princes Town region.
The distribution included:
- Twenty (20) Disaster General Assistance Grants benefiting eighty-two (82) beneficiaries, valued at Two Hundred and Thirteen Thousand, Two Hundred Dollars (TT$213,200.00).
- Seven (7) Home Repair Grants benefiting twenty-one (21) beneficiaries, valued at One Hundred and Twenty-Five Thousand, Two Hundred and Seventy-One Dollars (TT$125,271.00).
Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, the Honourable Vandana Mohit, stated that the programme continues to demonstrate the Government's commitment to ensuring that assistance reaches families when they need it most. "Every distribution represents another community reached, another family given the opportunity to rebuild and another promise fulfilled," Minister Mohit said.
Reflecting on the progress made since the Government assumed office, Minister Mohit acknowledged that significant delays and backlogs had previously affected the timely delivery of assistance to vulnerable citizens, stating that, "We made a commitment to change that, and we have honoured that commitment. Our Government continues to work for every citizen, in every village, every district and every constituency across Trinidad and Tobago. Our commitment does not begin and end with today's distribution. It continues every day through stronger policies, improved programmes and a determination to serve the people of this country."
