The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services (MPSDFS) distributed $30,000.00 in Sowing Empowerment through Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) Grants to clients in the Diego Martin region on Monday, August 3, 2026.
The Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, led the distribution, during which two (2) deserving entrepreneurs received SEED Grants, benefiting four (4) persons.
Minister Mohit congratulated the recipients and expressed her confidence that the grants would provide a solid foundation for the growth of their businesses. She encouraged them to remain committed to their entrepreneurial journey, noting that their success has the potential to inspire others within their communities. The Minister also reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to taking its programmes directly to citizens, ensuring that Government support is accessible to individuals and families in communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
Minister Mohit announced that the Ministry's SEED Grant distribution programme will continue throughout the week, as she visits additional communities across the country. She noted that every grant represents an investment in the potential of citizens who are striving to improve their circumstances through entrepreneurship and hard work.
The SEED Grant, valued at up to $15,000.00 per recipient, is administered through the National Social Development Programme (NSDP). It assists entrepreneurs with establishing or expanding micro enterprises through the provision of equipment, materials and specialised training, creating opportunities for greater financial independence and long-term economic resilience.
These distributions reflect the Ministry's unwavering commitment to empowering citizens, promoting self-sufficiency, reducing poverty and strengthening families by providing practical opportunities for sustainable economic advancement.
