The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services continued its community outreach on Friday, August 14, 2026, with the Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, leading the delivery of TT$28,952.00 in Sowing Empowerment through Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) grants to two recipients in the San Juan/Laventille Region.
As part of the outreach, Minister Mohit visited recipients at their places of business, where she presented the grants and engaged directly with the entrepreneurs on their business operations, plans for expansion and the opportunities the financial assistance will provide for their households.
The grants will provide the young, upcoming entrepreneurs, whose businesses operate in the areas of nail services, graphic design and custom apparel, with resources to strengthen their operations, improve their services and build sustainable sources of income.
The San Juan/Laventille outreach continues the Ministry’s ongoing drive to take Government support directly into communities. Led by Minister Mohit, the initiative provides an opportunity for direct engagement with citizens, while allowing the Ministry to see first-hand the businesses, skills and entrepreneurial ambitions being supported through SEED.
Minister Mohit said
“The Ministry is happy to support our entrepreneurs and the businesses they are building. We want to see people live, work and grow within their communities, and we are pleased to play our part by providing the support they need.”
The SEED Programme, administered through the National Social Development Programme (NSDP), provides financial assistance to eligible persons to establish or expand micro enterprises, promoting entrepreneurship, self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
The Ministry will continue its community-based outreach, bringing social and economic support closer to citizens and creating opportunities for greater economic empowerment.
