The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services has disbursed Two Million, Six Hundred and Sixty-Six Thousand, Eight Dollars and Eighty-Five Cents (TT$2,666,008.85) to the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (CATT), in continued operations and the provision of critical child care and protection services.
Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, the Honourable Vandana Mohit, handed over the cheque to Mrs. Rhonda Gregoire-Roopchan, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, at the Ministry’s Headquarters, on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
The disbursement comprises:
- One Million, Thirty-Three Thousand, Nine Hundred and Eighty-Six Dollars (TT$1,033,986.00) for Foster Care payments for July and August 2026.
- One Million, Six Hundred and Thirty-Two Thousand, Twenty-Two Dollars and Eighty-Five Cents (TT$1,632,022.85) for statutory payments, including P.A.Y.E. and Group Health for July 2026.
The disbursement of these funds will support the Children’s Authority in meeting its current financial obligations, including Foster Care payments and statutory commitments, while contributing to the continued delivery of essential services to children and families.
In July 2026, the Ministry facilitated two significant financial interventions in support of the Children’s Authority. The first involved the settlement of Thirty-Six Million, Thirty-Nine Thousand, Seven Hundred and Thirty-Four Dollars and Fifty-One Cents (TT$36,039,734.51) in recently audited outstanding payments owed by the Authority, including payments for security services, works at the National Care and Empowerment Centre and janitorial services. The second involved the regularisation of Seventeen Million, Eight Hundred and Eighty-One Thousand, Seven Hundred and Eighty-Two Dollars and Forty-Three Cents (TT$17,881,782.43) in audited unremitted outstanding statutory obligations. Today’s disbursement is the third financial intervention by the Ministry and brings the total amount disbursed through these three interventions to Fifty-Six Million, Five Hundred and Eighty-Seven Thousand, Five Hundred and Twenty-Five Dollars and Seventy-Nine Cents (TT$56,587,525.79).
These interventions demonstrate the Government’s continued efforts to address financial obligations and provide the support necessary for the Authority to fulfil its responsibilities and sustain the delivery of essential child care and protection services. Through this continued support, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children and strengthening Trinidad and Tobago’s child protection system services.
