Ministry of the People Distributes more than $52,000 in SEED Programme Grants

Four small business owners are set to benefit from the Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services’ (MPSDFS) Sowing Empowerment through Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) Programme, after receiving funding valued at a total of fifty-two thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine dollars ($52,999.00) to either initiate or expand their selected micro-enterprises.

The SEED grant, valued at up to $15,000.00, is distributed through the National Social Development Programme (NSDP) and provides a mechanism to empower citizens who are poor. The grant is geared towards transforming the lives of beneficiaries through the provision of equipment, materials or specialized training, to initiate or expand micro enterprises. The distribution was held yesterday, Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Ministry’s Head Office, St. Vincent Street, Port of Spain.

During the distribution, the Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People Social Development and Family Services, stated that the Ministry welcomes the opportunity to help the recipients attain the next step in building a future and developing themselves and their families. She said the Ministry will be working along with recipients to ensure that the funds are used as intended, to improve their circumstances.

The SEED Grant is designed to break barriers of poverty by giving disadvantaged individuals the critical first step they need to enter and thrive in today’s competitive business environment.
