The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services, through the National Social Development Programme (NSDP), continued the delivery of Home Repair and Disaster General Assistance Grants on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, to aid vulnerable households in the San Fernando region.
The distribution, which enables families to repair and improve the safety and functionality of their homes, benefitted a total of eleven (11) households, representing thirty-two (32) beneficiaries, at a total cost of one hundred and twenty-nine thousand and six dollars ($129,006.00).
Disaster General Assistance Grants were delivered to nine (9) households, benefitting twenty-three (23) recipients, at a cost of eighty-one thousand, five hundred and nineteen dollars ($81,519.00). Additionally, Home Repair Grants were provided to two (2) households, supporting nine (9) beneficiaries, at a value of forty-seven thousand, four hundred and eighty-seven dollars ($47,487.00).
The Ministry, through these initiatives, continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving the quality of life for citizens recovering from disasters and those facing financial hardship. The Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, reasserted the Government’s commitment to ensuring that no citizen is left behind, and as such, the Ministry continues to visit communities, identifying needs and responding with purpose, compassion, and urgency.
The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services will continue to be steadfast in prioritising responsive social protection programmes that ease immediate hardship, while fostering long-term stability, resilience, and empowerment for all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
