A total of nine (9) persons are now better equipped to move with greater comfort, safety and independence, following the distribution of wheelchairs by the Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services.

Addressing the recipients and those gathered, Minister Mohit reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that persons with mobility challenges have access to the support they need to participate more fully in their families and communities.
The distribution continued with Parliamentary Secretary, Senator Dr. Natalie Chaitan-Maharaj, accompanied by Deputy Director of the Social Welfare Division, Mrs. Helen Francis-Baptiste, delivering a wheelchair directly to a recipient at her home in Lopinot.
The recipient, who is currently undergoing physical therapy, expressed her gratitude to Senator Chaitan-Maharaj and the Ministry for responding to her request for assistance.
The initiative reflects the Ministry’s people-centred approach to social service delivery, meeting citizens where they are and responding to their individual needs with practical support that can improve their quality of life.
